TGIF! Game Updates for March 13, 2020

We’ve got a lot to go over this week, so let’s jump right into what’s new in game development news:

In Game Events!

St. Patrick's Day Special Sale is here!

The Ophidian Sect returns with a rejuvenated Raid Shop! From now until noon on March 16th, earn Raid Tokens when you battle this trafficking organization to spend on special Premium items and Raid Loot Cases not available anywhere else!

The ruthless pirate Anne Bonny is now challenging all comers in Nassau! You can also undertake the Minigame for Location this week as well. Crafting will be out next week for this Location to tie it off.

Quest Favor Point Payout Update

Based on player feedback about this most recent change, starting with Pirate Clan’s Armada Quests this week we will be removing the 2% minimum contribution required to earn Favor Points from the Chests.

Please note that while 0% does technically qualify under the new rules, that will still earn 0 FP so keep this in mind! If you have any other questions or concerns, make sure to contact Support.

Kano and COVID-19

Since the news of the COVID-19 outbreak began a few months back, we here at Kano have monitored and kept up to date with the international situation regarding this virus. 

This week, to ensure the health and safety of our employees, a mandatory work from home period was declared following the flurry of news activity around the novel coronavirus. 

As a technology company, Kano is well prepared for this eventuality. We will continue working remotely to make sure that all the games continue to be available and the work on future updates and improvements go on. Once the immediate threat of the virus has passed and we begin to return to office work we’ll drop an update.

We hope all of our players and their families remain in good health over the next few weeks and continue to follow recommended safety guidelines regarding virus prevention.

Support Moving From Kayako to Helpshift and Forums Update

As a reminder from February 28th’s TGIF, on March 22 we will be moving over to using Helpshift for all Support related tickets from our current software, Kayako. All games and platforms are already using Helpshift so the transition is complete. 

The exception here is any mobile app that is not on version 3.5, this is still sending tickets to Kayako. If you have not yet updated your mobile app to 3.5, please do so before March 22! We have force updated the mobile apps where applicable, but better safe than sorry.

When Kayako is sunset on March 22, all ticket history will be removed so if there’s anything you would like to save, this is your last opportunity to do so.

In light of our move to Helpshift to better service our players and our increasing use of social media, livestreams and the KanoPlay Blog to keep our players up-to-date, on March 22 we will also be sunsetting the venerable KanoApps Forums.

We want to be able to continue to provide the best service we can going forward and, like many other gaming studios, we have found that forums have fallen to the wayside versus other alternatives. While yours truly did cut their Kano teeth managing the forums, over the years those tasked with monitoring the forums have transitioned to other roles and the management of the forums has become less of a focus as time has gone on.

Come March 22, the forums will be set to read only, so players will no longer be able to make new threads or reply to old ones, but all existing content will be maintained for the foreseeable future.
